Location of Event: Stillwater, Minnesota. Participants will meet in the public parking area adjacent to PD Pappy’s Restaurant at the north end of town on the river. Specific directions for the meeting spot will be forthcoming. Painters will be asked to stay within a 2 mile radius of the downtown area. This will include locations along the river front, the downtown shops, the riverboat docks, or historic hillside homes that line the downtown area.

Description of Location: Stillwater, MN is an old river town of limestone cliffs running along the St. Croix River (a nationally protected, scenic river) and many scenic vistas, antique shops, riverboat cruises, great restaurants, wine bars and gourmet food. Main Street is restored historic buildings, running parallel to and one block from the river. Lowell Park runs along the river.

On this weekend an “Art and Jazz Festival” will be celebrated in Lowell Park. There are many local artists.

Directions: Stillwater is east of St. Paul/Minneapolis. Exit the 494-694 expressway loop on Highway 36 and head east straight into downtown Stillwater, or exit Interstate 94 on the Minnesota side of the St. Croix River and take Highway 95 north through Bayport into downtown Stillwater. From the Osceola, Taylors Falls, Marine-on-St. Croix area north of Stillwater, follow Highway 95 south right into downtown. Allow time for parking because it can be tight on busy weekends.
