Albert Handell
- Born in Brooklyn, New York, 1937
- Attended the Art Student’s League of NY
- Lived 4 years (1961-1965) in Paris, France
- Has had approximately 50 one-man shows
- He paints on location with pastels, and is the leading pioneer of the extended application of the pastel medium for plein air painting and is internationally known for his works in pastel
- His prolific works in oils created in the studio as well as plein airare recognized for their waterfalls and rushing waters, architectural subject matter, portraits of trees and for capturing the mystical light of northern New Mexico
- Has written 5 books on his art and teaching, published by Watson-Guptill Art Publications
- Was one of three artists to judge the Premier Annual Pastel Exhibition of the Pastel Society of America in 1973 in New York City
- In 1987 was the third living American artist to be inducted into the Pastel Society of America’s Hall of Fame
- Featured in a Pastel Retrospective, 2007, at the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio
- Has a one-man show every Autumn at the Ventana Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe.
- His works in pastel and oil are in numerous museums and permanent public collections
- He lives and paints in Santa Fe, New Mexico
