2012 National Exhibition in Evergreen Colorado

Evergreen Fine Art Gallery

Oil Painters of America’s Twenty-first Annual National Exhibition will be held at the Evergreen Fine Art Gallery, in Evergreen, Colorado, June 22 - July 21, 2012.

Located about one-half hour west of Denver, Evergreen Fine Art Gallery is near the Elk Meadow, an area of natural beauty which will afford artists innumerable opportunities for painting mountain meadows, wildflower glens, wildlife and other picturesque views while enjoying the aroma of acres of Ponderosa Pines.  Other area activities include hiking, boating, biking and fishing.

An opening reception will be held for artists, collectors, the public and the press on Friday, June 22 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  As in the past, many informative and educational seminars will be offered to OPA members and guests.

Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings.  The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.

Painting Demonstration with Quang Ho OPAM

Location: Evergreen Elks Lodge

Quang Ho OPAM was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in 1975.  Quang attended the Colorado Institute of Art on a National Scholastics Art Awards Scholarship where he graduated with the Best Portfolio Award from his graduating class.  After graduating from art school, he launched a very successful career as a freelance illustrator from 1985 through 1991. His clients included Adolph Coors Company, Upjohn, Safeway, the Colorado Symphony, and the Chicago Symphony.  An art dealer, Mikkel Saks, discovered his painting talent and promoted him in his gallery, which led to his meteoric rise. Today, working mostly in oils and occasionally watercolor and pastels, Ho’s subject matter ranges from still life, landscapes, interiors, and figurative. “Subject matter is not really important to me. I can find visual excitement all around me as well as on the canvas - from a knot on a tree to the graceful limp of a flower wilting to a juxtaposition of a few simple shapes and colors...inspirations are inexhaustible.”
