Once you have visited Santa Barbara you will no doubt find reason to return again. OPA is proud to return to the lovely Waterhouse Gallery. This upscale beachside town has it all including a lively cultural art scene, and plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2007, 4 - 7 pm.  Awards Presentation at 5:30 pm.

Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings in the region. The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter. We invite you to submit a truly outstanding piece. Your participation in this show will help further the OPA goal of increasing public awareness of the exceptional quality of representational art available in the Western region.

Total Awards will be a minimum of $7,500, including a $3,000 Best of Show. The awarding juror for our Year 2007 Western Regional Show will be nationally recognized Master Signature Member Calvin Liang OPAM.

Eligible states and provinces include: United States: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Washington. Canada: British Columbia and Yukon Territories.

Entry Information

All packages arriving after this date will be returned unopened.

Please note; FedEx does not deliver to a post office box.  Use the U. S. Postal Service to deliver your entry forms.  Use a No. 10 size business envelope.  Do NOT request a signature by receiver.

  • Representational oil paintings of original concept and design only.

  • Canvas size: longest dimension shall not exceed 14”. Smallest dimension shall not exceed 11”. (Not applicable to Masters.)

  • Painting must be framed and wired for hanging.

  • Submit 1 slide and 1 photo of each painting.

  • Maximum entries (2).

  • The Waterhouse gallery respectfully requests that a minimum price of $750 be set for all paintings.

Your Entry Must Include:

  1. Slide and 1 photo (4”X6”) of each entry.
  2. Entry form and notification card.
  3. Entry fee (see entry form for details).
  4. Self-addressed, stamped envelope, business size No. 10 only. For return of photo(s) and slide(s).

Mail with slides and photos (4"X6") of your unframed oil paintings, entry fee and entry and notification forms, together with a stamped, self-addressed business size envelope (4-1/8” X 9-½”). Print clearly on photos and slides: your name, title of painting, size, and price. Place a red dot in upper right, front corner of slides. Slides without this full information will not be accepted.

Slides should be 35mm with a cardboard or thin plastic mount. Declined slides and photos will be returned. Accepted slides become part of OPA archives and may be used for future OPA event promotion. Do not
paperclip slides to your entry.

All entry material should be sent to OPA in a business size No. 10 envelope.

ENTRY FEE: TWO ENTRIES
A jurying fee for one painting is $20.00 or $30.00 for two paintings. In addition you must be a paid member through December 31, 2007 at a cost of $60.00. This will also enable you to receive one color National show catalog, newsletters and other mailings from OPA. However, if you have already paid your membership dues for the year 2007, disregard this membership fee. Make check payable to OPA and mail with slides, photos, entry form, notification card and SASE to: OPA, Post Office Box 2488, Crystal Lake, IL 60039-2488. Sales commission of 40% is required by the gallery for all paintings sold. Please take this into consideration when setting your price. All work that is submitted must be for sale. NO NFS.

DELIVERY AND RETURN OF OF ACCEPTED WORK
Local Artists deliver uncrated paintings to: Waterhouse Gallery, 1114 State Street, Suite 9, Santa Barbara, CA 93101 between Tuesday, September 4 and Saturday, September 8, 2007.

Out of Town Artists ship to: Waterhouse Gallery, 1114 State Street, Suite 9, Santa Barbara, CA 93101 between Tuesday, September 4 and Saturday, September 8, 2007. Include a $20.00 check payable to Waterhouse Gallery, to cover the labor expense for uncrating, storage of crates, re-crating your painting and contacting your shipper for return. In a separate envelope, include a check made out to Waterhouse Gallery, to cover the cost of return shipping. Place both envelopes inside the shipping container.

Liabilities and Reponsibilities

Oil Painters of America and Waterhouse Gallery will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist will be deemed to have concurred with this agreement.

ARTISTS PAY FOR SHIPPING BOTH WAYS. WE SUGGEST THAT YOU PROVIDE
INSURANCE TO COVER THE FULL VALUE OF THE ARTWORK WHILE IN TRANSIT.

William Schneider, Signature Member, and OPA Board member, will serve as chairman of a Jurying Committee consisting of three Master or Signature members of OPA. The results of the jurying will be final. No refund of entry fee on unaccepted slides. Participants will be notified of the jurors' selections.
