This year’s Eastern Regional Exhibition will be held at The Weatherburn Gallery, one of the finest galleries on the East Coast. Located in the picturesque heart of Naples, Florida, the gallery will host an elegant opening reception for artists and collectors on Saturday evening, November 24, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Artists who reside in the Eastern Region (see below for eligible states) and are OPA members are welcome to apply.

Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings in the region. The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.

Total Awards will be a minimum of $7,500, including a $3,000 Best of Show.

The awarding juror for this year’s 2007 Eastern Regional Show will be Signature Member, John Michael Carter OPA, winner of the 2004 American National Award of Excellence.

Eligible states and provinces include: United States: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin. Canada: New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

Please note; FedEx does not deliver to a post office box. Use the U. S. Postal Service to deliver your entry forms. Use a No. 10 size business envelope. Do Not request a signature by receiver.

  • Representational oil paintings of original concept and design only.

  • Canvas size: longest dimension shall not exceed 40”. Smallest dimension shall not exceed 30”. (Not applicable to Masters.)

  • Painting must be framed and wired for hanging.

  • Maximum entries (2).

  • The artist retains copyright to their image(s). However, accepted images do become part of OPA archives and may be
    used for future OPA event promotion.

  • Paintings entered should be of current work and should not have been accepted for a previous OPA regional exhibition.

  • Sales commission of 40% is required by the gallery for all paintings sold. Please take this into consideration when setting
    your price. All work that is submitted must be for sale NO NFS.

Print large or type on entry form, slide(s) and photo(s) No handwriting please. Use first and last name only.

On-line Submissions—Deadline: Tuesday, August 21, 2007 Electronic applications will be accepted beginning Friday, June 15, 2007 through Tuesday, August 21, 2007. Images should be a width of 1400 pixels for landscape images (wide images) and a height of 1400 pixels for portrait images (tall images). Mailed Entries - Deadline: Tuesday, August 7, 2007
Mail with slides and photos (4"X6") of your unframed oil paintings, entry fee and entry and notification forms, together with a stamped, self-addressed business size envelope (4-1/8” X 9-½”). Print clearly on photos and slides: your name, title of painting, size, and price. Place a red dot in upper right, front corner of slides. Slides should be 35mm with a cardboard or thin plastic mount. Declined slides and photos will be returned. Do not paperclip slides to your entry. Send entries in a business size No. 10 envelope. DO NOT request a signature by receiver.

Membership Required
Please note, you must be a paid member through December 31, 2007 at a cost of $60.00. If you are currently not a member or have not paid your 2007 membership dues, OPA will accept your electronic or mailed entry provided that a membership application or your annual dues are received by Monday, August 6th. A membership application can be
found on the OPA website, http//:www.oilpaintersofamerica.com.

Jurying Fees
On-Line Entries: The jurying fee for electronic entries is as follows: one painting is $20.00 or $30.00 for two paintings.

Mailed Entries: The jurying fee for mailed entries is as follows: one painting is $20.00 or $30.00 for two paintings PLUS AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF $15 PER APPLICATION.

DELIVERY AND RETURN OF ACCEPTED WORK
Delivery for Local Artists and Out of Town Artists: Local and Out of Town artists’ paintings must arrive at the gallery between Monday, November 5 and Friday, November 9, 2007. Out of Town Artists, please ship to The Weatherburn Gallery, 452 Bayfront Place, Naples, FL 34102. Local Artists, please deliver uncrated paintings during regular gallery hours (See gallery hours).

Handling Fee: Out of Town Artists must include a $20 check payable to The Weatherburn Gallery to cover the labor expense of uncrating, storage of crates, recrating and contacting your shipper for return. In a separate envelope, either include a check made payable to The Weatherburn Gallery, to cover the entire cost of return shipping, or include the appropriate shipping label with your personal Fed Ex or UPS Account Information.

Liabilities and Reponsibilities

Oil Painters of America and The Weatherburn Gallery will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist will be deemed to have concurred with this agreement.

ARTISTS PAY FOR SHIPPING BOTH WAYS. WE SUGGEST THAT YOU PROVIDE
INSURANCE TO COVER THE FULL VALUE OF THE ARTWORK WHILE IN TRANSIT.

Bill Schneider OPA, Signature Member, will serve as chairman of a Jurying Committee consisting of three Master or Signature members of OPA. The results of the jurying will be final. No refund of entry fee on unaccepted slides. Participants will be notified of the jurors' selections.
