The Seventeenth Annual National Exhibition will be hosted by the Dana Gallery, in Missoula, Montana. Steeped in American history, Missoula offers a diversity of sightseeing pleasures from the hand-carved 1918 merry-go-round to the National Bison Range located nearby. The gallery will host an opening reception for artists, collectors, the public
and the press on Friday evening, May 2, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Our goal is to assemble the finest display of representational oil paintings. The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.

The total awards will be approximately $40,000, including a $20,000 Best In Show.

The awarding juror for this year’s 2008 National Juried Exhibition will be internationally renowned Master Signature member Ramon Kelley.

Artists who reside in the United States, Canada and Mexico and are either 2008 OPA members or have submitted an application for membership or renewal for 2008 membership are welcome to apply for this exhibition.

Please note; FedEx does not deliver to a post office box. Use the U. S. Postal Service to deliver your entry forms. Use a No. 10 size business envelope. Do Not request a signature by receiver.

  • Representational oil paintings of original concept and design only.

  • Canvas size: longest dimension shall not exceed 40”. Smallest dimension shall not exceed 30”. (Not applicable to Masters.)

  • Painting must be framed and wired for hanging.

  • Maximum entries (2). However, only one (1) painting can be accepted.

  • The artist retains copyright to their image(s). However, accepted images do become part of OPA archives and may be used for future OPA event promotion.

  • Paintings entered should be of current work and should not have been accepted for a previous OPA regional exhibition.

Print large or type on entry form and slide(s).

No handwriting please. Use first and last name only.

Electronic applications will be accepted beginning Friday, November 14, 2007 through Thursday, January 24, 2008. Images should be a width of 1400 pixels for landscape images (wide images) and a height of 1400 pixels for portrait images (tall images). Mailed Entries - Deadline: Thursday, January 17, 2008.
Hardcopy, mailed applications with slide submittals only will be accepted if postmarked on or before January 17, 2008. An additional $15.00 charge over and above the entry fee will apply. Mail slides of your unframed oil paintings, entry fee and entry and notification forms, together with a stamped, self-addressed business size envelope (4-1/8” X 9-½”). Print clearly on slides: your name, title of painting, size, and price. Place a red dot in upper right, front corner of slides. Declined slides will be returned. Do not paperclip slides to your entry. Send entries in a business size No. 10 envelope. DO NOT request a signature by receiver.

Jurying Fees
The jurying fee for electronic entries is as follows: one painting is $20.00 or $30.00 for two paintings. Only one painting can be accepted. Electronic payment may be made by credit card or through Paypal. No e-checks will be accepted. Jurying fees for on-line submission may also be paid by check mailed to OPA if postmarked by Thursday, January 17, 2008. Please note, you must be a paid member through December 31, 2008 at a cost of $60.00. If you are currently not a member or have not paid your 2008 membership dues, OPA will accept your entry provided that 1.) an electronic membership fee is paid by Thursday, January 24 or 2.) a mailed membership application with your annual dues are postmarked no later than Friday, January 4, 2008. Sales Commission
Sales commission of 40% is required by the gallery for all paintings sold. Please take this into consideration when setting your price. All work that is submitted must be for sale. NO NFS.

DELIVERY AND RETURN OF ACCEPTED WORK
Delivery for Local Artists and Out of Town Artists: Local and Out of Town artists’ paintings must arrive at the gallery between Monday, April 14 and Friday, April 18, 2008. Out of Town Artists, please ship to Dana Gallery, 246 N. Higgins, Missoula, Montana, 59802. Local Artists, please deliver uncrated paintings during regular gallery hours (See gallery hours).

Handling Fee: Out of Town Artists must include a $25 check payable to Dana Gallery to cover the cost of uncrating, storage of crates, recrating and contacting your shipper for return.

Shipping: The cost of shipping the painting(s) both to and from the show is the responsibility of the artist. Return shipping label is to be included with the artwork—Fed Ex or UPS prepaid return shipment is required. No checks or COD’s.

Liabilities and Reponsibilities

Oil Painters of America and Dana Gallery will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause. By submitting
artwork to this exhibition, each artist will be deemed to have concurred with this agreement. Artists pay for shipping both ways. We suggest that you provide insurance to cover the full value of the artwork while in transit.

William Schneider, Signature Member and OPA Board Member, will serve as chairman of a Jurying Committee consisting of five Master Signature or Signature members of OPA. The results of the jurying will be final. No refund of entry fee on unaccepted slides. Participants will be notified of the jurors' selections.
