Once again Oil Painters of America is pleased to present "The Virtuosos of the OPA Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils", hosted by Cutter & Cutter Fine Art, in St. Augustine, Florida. This event will be take place March 1 through March 31, 2019 with the opening reception being held on Friday, March 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The delightfully picturesque city of St. Augustine is the oldest city in the United States and is situated on the Atlantic Ocean, with many scenic views and charming old buildings to capture one's attention.

Thursday, February 289:00 a.m. Plein Air Painting in Downtown St. Augustine and Beyond Location: Check-in at Cutter & Cutter Fine Art, 25 King Street,
between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Come paint historic St. Augustine, one of the United States oldest and most beautiful cities known for its Spanish colonial architecture and beautiful beaches. Learn about the city's fascinating heritage and paint its picturesque downtown area like the Spanish Quarter, historic St. George Street, Fountain of Youth, the City Gates, Castillo de San Marcos, or one of its many beautiful churches. If you prefer the water, head to the St. Augustine Inlet, or check out Anastasia State Park, a 1600 acres wildlife sanctuary with four miles of pristine beach and tidal salt marshes. Note: Please bring your easel and painting supplies with you! OPA will provide Gamsol.
St. Augustine Location: Meet at Cutter & Cutter Fine Art at 12:45 p.m. Cost: $22.00 per person
This is the best way to explore the city of St. Augustine without driving! And by trolley, you don't need to worry about parking or risk missing something in St. Augustine that you might have enjoyed painting. The trolley has 19 stops and you can hop on and off at any of the locations. Trolleys come by each stop every 15 to 20 minutes and run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Please note, this is not a private tour.)
A visit to St. Augustine would not be complete without fresh seafood and an awesome ocean view. Join us at Sunset Grille - a casual restaurant known for both its amazing seafood and breathtaking view and just a 10-minute drive from downtown St. Augustine. We will arrange carpools for those without transportation.

Without a doubt, one day is not enough time to paint in St. Augustine. Day #2 of painting gives you ample time to explore the area to find your next subject. Drop off your painting - maybe two - to the gallery between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Paintings will be hung in the afternoon and be for sale Saturday evening and Sunday. Daud Akhriev OPAM Location: Cutter & Cutter Fine Art, 25 King Street
Daud Akhriev was born in the former Soviet Union in 1959. He studied classical painting and drawing for 14 years, graduating with honors from the Repin Institute (Russian Academy of Fine Art) with a master's degree in fine art, under the tutelage of the late painter and Academic, Piotr Fomin. In 1991 he emigrated to Chattanooga, Tennessee. Akhriev, now a U.S. citizen, shares his time between Andalusia, Spain and Chattanooga, Tennessee with his artist wife.
Akhriev is internationally sought after as an instructor for figure and landscape painting and for his monumental work. The Four Seasons, his four 9-foot bronze figures completed for the city of Chattanooga, are listed on the national Public Art Registry. Additional public art includes the Erlanger Chapel Mosaic and the Baylor School Mosaic, as well as murals at the Collegedale Seventh-Day Adventist Church and St. Peter's Episcopal.
Daud Akhriev, Stylistic Pluralism was published in 2002 by Common Place publishing. He is also featured in Traditions Rediscovered, the Finley Collection of Russian Art. Akhriev's drawings are in several books about the Repin Institute, both in Russian language and in Chinese, and in numerous magazines such as Artist's Magazine, Pastel Journal, Island Journal, Chattanooga Magazine, Southern Living and American Art Collector.
The Columbia Restaurant of St. Augustine is in the heart of the city and offers award winning Spanish/Cuban cuisine. You will enjoy its authentic Old-World charm and rich and vibrant decor. OPA members and guests will order from the menu and individual checks will be issued. A 20% gratuity will be automatically be added.
