|Portrait Society of America signature member, Ellen Cooper, is running a 6-day intensive workshop designed to provide a solid foundation in the process of painting a portrait from start to finish. Topics covered include accuracy of proportions and drawing, tonal study/grisaille, the facial features, creating form and dimension, and improving observational skills to see color and value relationships. Demos will include how to organize and use the palette of colors to mix luminous flesh tones. Also addressed - what goes into the pose, lighting, background and composition. The workshop opens with a Sunday evening welcome reception and portrait demo, followed by six-days, 6 hours each, of painting from the model. Class size limited to 9 students, lots of one on one feedback at your easel, all levels welcome.
