Description - We will be getting together on September 25th at 9:30 AM at the Heritage Nature Center parking lot (Inside on the park). In the possible event of a rain-out, we will simply reschedule to the 26th and meet at the same place and time.
The local Chick-Fil-A (CFA Winterpock) has agreed to sponsor our event and provide catering for us! If you don't like CFA that's perfectly okay! please just pack a lunch or plan to grab something from a local restaurant on the way in. Regardless of the Chick-Fil-A lunch, I would still encourage you to bring snacks.
Around 2 PM we will be getting back together to mingle, show each other our work, and eat some delicious Chick-Fil-A!
I would also suggest bringing sunscreen, extra drinking water, maybe a shady hat and a great attitude:)
Instructions - Pocahontas is a beautiful State Park just outside of Richmond Virginia. There are two lakes that are very close to each other inside of the park that offer painting spots (Beaver Lake and Swift Creek Lake) there is also a waterfall about 5 minutes from the parking lot that will be flowing depending on how much rain we get.
There is a neat bridge that crosses Swift Creek Lake right near a kayak slip. Each lake usually has quite a few geese, ducks and fisherman that don't mind being painted.
If you're really feeling adventurous, there's a roughly 2 mile trail around Beaver Lake that has vistas of the lake, interesting spots along the trail itself, and a creek crossing at about the 1/2 way point of the loop.
There is a park entry fee on weekends of $10 per vehicle.
