Description - Red rock canyons, cliffs, and towers in Western Colorado's geologic gem- Colorado National Monument, also containing one of the healthiest piñon-juniper forests. This is part of the park service so an entrance fee of $25 (good for 7 days) at the gate is required, unless you have a National parks lifetime pass, or America the beautiful pass.
Instructions - Paint the red rock cliffs, canyons, and towers in Colorado National Monument. Restrooms at the visitor center, campground loops, and halfway through the park. Parking available at numerous pull of locations. No more than 30 yard hike I'm most cases, sometimes less. Meet at 8am at the CNM visitor center. Bring snacks, and sunscreen. No bugs to worry about this time of year. Paint at numerous locations throughout the park which will be detailed by host John Lintott who organizes the Monuments and Canyons Plein Air Event for the park. Bring water, refill station at the visitor center. Numerous restaurants in Fruita 5 miles from visitor center. Meet up afterwards at the Hot Tomato Pizza in Fruita at 5pm.
