Description - As representational artists we have been taught “paint what you see!” And, of course, we all want to be accurate, honest, and nuanced in our observation. But the master painters we admire have all learned a greater truth! We must learn to edit! My life drawing instructor, the legendary Bill Parks told us time and again “You’re the artist…you’re in charge of quality control!” It took me years to understand what he meant. I didn’t have to be a slave to my subject, I could make it better! If your work is fairly accurate but you feel that some key is missing, this three-day workshop may be just what you need! For both oil and pastel painters. You will learn: Three things you absolutely must edit out if you want to save your paintings. How to think like a master! Exercises to understand how and when to deviate from your reference. How to clarify and simplify your painting! A simple tool to double your visual impact. How modifying your subject may actually make it even more truthful. The workshop is limited to 10 students.
