Description - Friday, October 4th - Sunday, October 6th, 2024 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily Instruction by James Swanson. Instagram: @jamesswansonartist We are so excited to host James Swanson's “The Nature of the Beast” workshop here at our studio in Los Angeles. We have received requests from students to add James to our roster in 2024, and we are so excited that he is traveling in from Illinois to teach here in LA! All levels are welcome! Just bring your joy for learning along with you. Whether you are a novice or an accomplished painter, you will enjoy James' approachable teaching style. In this three day oil painting workshop, you will focus on animal paintings and how to tackle fur, eyes, water, and movement. You will learn a lot about brushwork, mark making, and getting the different feelings of fur to standout in your paintings. Each day will start with painting 'warmups'. There will be demos, critiques, and plenty of bad jokes! Day 1 - Will start with painting a dog in water. Day 2 - Animal portrait Day 3 – Wild animal or bring your own reference. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. And, of course, cake will be served as well! Once registered, you will receive a detailed list of materials to bring, as well as recommendations for local accommodation for those traveling in for this class. Wood studio easels are provided.
