Painting a Black Dog

Description - ONLINE on Zoom and Padlet | 10am-1pm Arizona Time (always on Mountain Standard Time) Don’t let all that dark fur confuse you! In this 3-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to focus on building form and recognize the nuances of color within the fur; how to avoid making the blacks look like holes; and how to keep your painting lively. Suitable for all levels, Johanne has created some tools to help you jump right in and paint along if you like, or of course, just watch and work with them afterwards. About a week before the class, she will send you the subject image and a gridded value study with instructions. Before the class, copy the study in paint and you’ll be ready to get the most out this interactive new workshop. Johanne’s classes are always fun, and packed with her generous sharing of knowledge. Individual critiques will be available, and, if he’s in a cooperative mood, we’ll have a LIVE dog model to observe colors in a black coat up close! We will record the class and it will be available to students for two months.
