Julie Snyder

Julie Snyder is a self-styled “old-school” artist who paints from her studios in Los Angeles, California and in the South of France.

Born and raised in Scotland, artist Julie Snyder attended traditional drawing and painting instruction at the Glasgow School of Art. She was strongly encouraged to pursue art by an artist-mother and a writer-father. Julie’s artistic career has spanned both sides of the Atlantic and included several years of residence in Southern Spain.  Now, a longtime resident of California, Julie Snyder forged her craft initially as an illustrator in advertising, publishing and the motion picture industry. But, those commercial art days are behind her. She is now dedicating her painting time to the fine art world exclusively. Her work hangs in collections and galleries across the USA and Europe.

Her paint quality is expressionistic as she captures the essential mood and gestures of her subjects. Painting wet on wet with a balance of loose and tight brush work, she uses color and light to create interest and focus. Rather than being labeled an “Impressionist”, she prefers the term “Impatient Realist.”  The artist also has a number of clients who commission paintings and portraits.

Julie Snyder also finds time to lead a variety of workshops designed to help other artists to thrive in their fields. As program coordinator for The Art Engine, she is a frequent seminar-presenter for art marketing and art collecting workshops. She served for two years as president of the historic Businessmen’s Art Institute of Los Angeles.

She works both in the USA and Europe. She resides in Southern California, where she paints, holds workshops and travels to Europe each summer, spending time organizing and leading Workshops In France.
