Mark Daly OPA

Mark started oil painting late in life. A curious mind, hard work, and painting mentorship with CW Mundy (OPAM) helped Mark became a professional painter in 2010. Since then, he has traveled many miles on the canvas, ocean, and road experimenting, learning, and growing as a painter. Mark’s purpose is to create memorable, old-master-quality art that stands the test of time. His style varies between expressive yet authentically rendered boat paintings, to more impressionist work, often portrayed in his
city, beach, and other scenes.

He paints on location and in his studio. Painting on location helps Mark see and hear beyond the exactness of a photograph. Values, colors, and sounds appear purer and more noticeable. The studio provides time for him to develop paintings to a more thorough completion. Mark is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America (OPA), American Impressionist Society (AIS), American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA), and Cincinnati Art Club (CAC). He is a Juried Artist Member of the Rockport Art Association & Museum, an elected Shareholder by the Board of Trustees of the Cincinnati Art Museum, an elected Board Member of the American Impressionist Society (2019 to the present), and a Voting Member of the Grammy’s (2011 to the present). He has exhibited in nine solo shows in well-known galleries and many
group and juried shows. His work is in distinguished private, corporate, and university collections, worldwide. Mark has won prominent awards in art exhibitions and competitions including The $20,000 Dorothy Driehaus Mellin Fellowship Award in OPA’s 34th National Juried Exhibition, fourteen PleinAir Salon Art Competition Awards including the Overall First Place Award (July 2024), First Place in
OPA’s Online Competition (Spring 2017), The Dickinson Signature Member Award at the American Impressionist Society’s 14th National Juried Exhibition, The Gold Medal at ViewPoint’s 45th National Juried Exhibition, and Honorable Mention in The 2024 Almenara International Art Prize,
among others.
