I live in Kalamazoo Michigan with my husband. I am a professor at a small liberal arts college which I have always considered to be the perfect career. I spend as much time as possible in my studio. I attended a local atelier and am firm advocate of that type of art education. Without it, my work would never be at the level it is. I started painting as a child and never quit although I did not do much while I was raising children and building my career. During that time, I indulged my love of color and texture by quilting. I went back to painting when I realized that I was literally beginning to paint my quilts. I work primarily in oil although I also like other mediums such as pastel and acrylic. My work has been juried into many different shows in Michigan and several pieces have received awards. My work is in collections throughout the Midwest. To me, painting is a conversation between painter and viewer. My goal is for these conservations to be rich and nuanced for the viewer. To that end, I will continue to grow as an artist.
