Kenneth Requard

Artist’s Statement

I am an impressionist oil painter specializing in innovative western USA landscapes.  I create impressions of moments in time and place,  sharing with the viewer a unique visual and emotional experience.  I draw the viewer to the work from a distance by a strong value pattern.  I intrigue the viewer up close with the quality of the painted surface and the subtle nuances of color and value. I use layers of paint to create an optical color mix. My oil paintings reflect my prior experience with watercolor and pastel media.  I  think a good painting has both good planning and expressive execution.
