Terry Widener
In the late 1970’s, after years as a graphic designer, I attended the Illustrators Workshop and this led to a change in career.
I’d always admired the works of Bernie Fuchs and Bob Peak, but at the workshop I was introduced to some of Howard Pyle’s work and theories and the work of his student, N.C. Wyeth. As I studied their work, my illustrations became much more painterly incorporating stronger concepts, compositions, lighting and color. In 2018, I retired after 40 plus years in illustration and began plein air and studio painting.
I am a Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters. The past two years I have transitioned to working in oil. In 2020 I’ve been honored to have my work juried into the American Plains Artists 35th Annual Juried Exhibit, the American Impressionist Society2020 Online Juried Exhibition and the Oil Painters of America 29th National Juried Exhibition.
