Thank you for allowing me to organize another great paint out in Steinhatchee for OPA. It is a very rural area and very paintable. We painted in the morning and met for lunch then most went to the Steinhatchee Falls to paint that afternoon. It was a glorious day. We had about 15 artists. The weather was so beautiful.

Artists that participated traveled from a large area. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the art. Most of the 28 artists elected to participate in an optional exhibition that evening at Hindes Fine Art, judged by OPA Master Signature member Patrick Saunders. Identical panels with velcro strips were provided to all artists. The matching strip was applied to the back of their artwork. Therefore, artists did not need to bring frames and only had to velcro their art to their panels. This made an exceptionally even presentation for judging. Everyone seemed to have a great time and were very complimentary of the event.
This is our first time hosting OPA Paint-Outs, and while there were some changes needed, we thoroughly enjoyed doing this. We would like to be considered for hosting future events.

Nicole Troup hosted a Great Paint Out at the Gettysburg National Military Park on Saturday, October 21. The artists painted at a beautiful scenic location, called Devils Den, which was one of the battle sites of the Civil War. It was a beautiful day, other than the strong winds so a few people left early before some of us got back from lunch.

We had a great paintout, Saturday, Oct 21, 2023. Beautiful weather in the mid 70s and sunny and a great turnout; eleven people came out to paint. We were spread out over the park but came together and had lunch at noon and viewed the paintings. One painting by Cindy Kopenhaffer sold “off the easel”. Being on a Saturday we had many people stop and talk with the artist. We normally paint every Thursday, April through October. Attached are some pics with names. If you don’t see the names, let me know and I can give you a list. Thanks to OPA for allowing our plein air group to host this event. Mike Kornblum

ALASKA PAINT OUT
As it was, Saturday was pouring rain and looking like it would continue, so I called all the people who had told me they were coming (6), and canceled. Of course then it stopped raining and turned nice, but I had put the cancellation on the public radio, so I could not really uncancel. I went there and hung around for a while in case anyone else showed up. We had rescheduled for Sunday, but several said they could not make Sunday, how about Monday. I agreed to paint both days. Turns out I was alone on Sunday, and only two of the others showed up on Monday, despite the weather being reasonable both days. Several of us have agreed to do it again next weekend. Anyway a few photos are attached. I thank you for this event, as it gets ME out when I might not otherwise.
The first photo is me, Donna Catotti. The second is Helen Alten. The third is the study I did on the second day. I had brought still life objects in case the clouds we’re too low to see the mountains, and became intrigued with them. Next weekend I will add fire and see if I can paint moving flames.

What a fun day Host Sandra Corpora and other artists had painting at Luckenbach Mill. They had a clear and cool day in an area of lots of beautiful motifs awaited to be painted.
After painting all morning many gathered for lunch at a local restaurant on Main St.

VIRGINIA PAINT OUT
The 2nd Annual Poco Paint-Out was a great success! Artists began arriving to Pocahontas State Park at 7:00 AM on Saturday, September 24th to explore the area. Anthony Bowes was there to greet them, let them know that they were in the right spot, and to give his best description of the surrounding park landscape and features. It was a little chilly that morning, but all the early birds were super good sports about it and it didn’t seem to slow any of them down! The entire morning was laid back and the only stipulation was to be back at the meet-up spot by 11:30 for lunch and introductions!
At 11:30AM, we met back up to get to know one another, show everyone their work and to eat lunch! They had their lunches generously donated by Chick-Fil-A Winterpock for the second year in a row! Everyone had a productive morning and Anthony said he really enjoyed getting to see what all the other artists had found inspiring!
All in all, it was a beautiful day to paint and a fun time with friends new and old.
