Some of Ms. Gates awards include: “Traditional Oil Award” and “Third Place”, Oil Painters of America. “A.A.P.L. Award”, American Artist Professional League. “Still Life Award”, Katherine T. Lovell Memorial Award”, and “Anna Hyatt Huntington Bronze Medal Award”, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. “Best of Show”, National League of Pen Women. “First Place”, in the National Juried “Barns and Farms” Exhibition supporting the Smithsonian exhibition held at the Barnsite Gallery in Kenawanne, WI. “Best of Show” in AAWA “Celebrating Eleven Years of Excellence”, at the Phippen Art Museum, Prescott, AZ., and “First Place” at the International Juried Art Show, at the Red River Valley Museum.

Ms. Gates earned signature status in KA, OPA, AAWA, WAOW, CLWAC, Signature 16, ACA, and APA. She is also an official U.S. Coast Guard Artist and has three paintings in their permanent collection. Her painting “Rescue” was chosen for a nationwide publicity campaign. Her work was featured in the Reagan Library and Museum with WAOW.

Ms. Gates has exhibited in the House of Representatives in the Cannon House Rotunda, in Washington, D.C. and the Lincoln Center in New York City, N.Y… She was “Guest of Honor” at a reception in the Dr. Sun-Yet-Sen Memorial Hall, Taipei, Taiwan and is in their permanent collection.

International Art Magazine chose her painting “Rocky Mountain Stream” for their book, “How did you paint that?”
