Booth Malone
Booth Malone

Booth Malone is one of the nation’s top equestrian artists. Official Artist for the 2006 Breeders Cup; Featured Artist for the Master’s of Fox Hunting Association Centennial Exhibition (2007), Artist in Residence, Keeneland Race Track (2014). His work has appeared on the cover of numerous equestrian-related magazines and other publications. Mr. Malone made his international debut with Frost & Reed Gallery (London) in 2001. In the United States his work may be seen at Cross Gate Gallery, (Lexington, KY); The Dog & Horse Gallery, (Charleston, SC); Skyluka Gallery (Tryon, NC).

Beside equestrian subjects, he paints ballet, and he is a noted portraitist. Recent commissions include: Marlin Fitzwater (Reagan-Bush Administrations); Larry Mize (Master’s Champion: 1987); Mason Lampton. PMFHA. He is an award-winning member of The American Academy of Equine Art (AAEA); The Portrait Society of Atlanta (Member of Merit); The Portrait Society of America; Oil Painters of America.

“Backstage Pass,” his entry in this year’s OPA National Exhibit, (Brilliance in Color Gallery, St. Augustine, FL, April 29–May 25, 2015) marks his fifth time accepted into the show. (Previous: 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2014)

Born and raised in Coral Gables, Florida, since 1985 he lives and works in Midland, GA; teaches an equestrian-oriented workshop each February, at Aiken, SC, (through the AAEA). Among his current projects: a series of paintings depicting the horse in the Civil War. A gifted writer, Mr. Malone is also completing a novel of the Civil War: The Fortunate Sons.
